YouTube
“YouTube, is a video-sharing website that allows users to upload, view, and share video clips; it offers access to new and dynamic opportunities for effective and non-traditional patterns of teaching and learning.” (Alwehaibi, 2015, p. 121). YouTube is a fantastic ICT tool to use in the classroom as it is extremey easy of use and results in high student engagement if an appropriate video is used. YouTube contains videos on most topics you can think of and allows students to gain knowledge on topics from experts without having to go anywhere or get anyone to come to them. There is a wide selection of videos (over 1 billion) on several topics which should allow students to access information at their intellectual level. YouTube can also be seamlessly integrated into the classroom as a majority of students have some experience with YouTube from personal use at home or with family.
There are however a few negatives that need to be considered when using YouTube, for example a large amount of videos on YouTube are not appropriate for students. Whether it be through the content or level of content being out of reach of the student. Age restriction is used on YouTube videos, however videos that contain minimal amounts of inappropriate language are not restricted therefore teachers must view all videos before presenting them to a class. If YouTube is being used independently there is a large possibility of students getting off track through viewing videos that are not related to the lesson.
Below is an example of an iMotion video that I uploaded to YouTube

YouTube is a great tool to use in the classroom due to the amount of information students can gain from it. YouTube videos can be used at the beginning of new topic to get students engaged and excited about the topic or it can be used during a lesson to provide students with information from an expert on the topic.
Depending on the use of YouTube it would fit into the augmentation category (students viewing videos in the class) or the redefinition (students creating and uploading their own videos to share with others). In regards to Bloom's taxonomy if the students are creating and uploading videos it would be in the create category.
